Sports Franchise Owner Robert Kraft

In a recent announcement, Robert Kraft plans to host the World Cup of 2026 at Gillette Stadium. One of his main goals in preparation for the event is to install new grass so that the playing surface is more ideal for the teams that will be participating in the World Cup.

Recently, there have been plans presented to officials of the FIFA organization. Shortly after proposing the plans, Kraft and New England Revolution President Brian Bilello went on a nine-city tour at Gillette Stadium. In an effort to make progress towards installing the new surface, Kraft has had the synthetic surface ripped out and began using the irrigation system in order to help grow grass in the stadium.

Along with installing new grass in the stadium, Robert Kraft has agreed to eliminate some sideline seating in order to satisfy the requirements for field width. With these new changes to Gillette Stadium, Kraft hopes to host six matches during the upcoming 2026 World Cup. The plan is to host four group stage games and two elimination games.

During the 1994 World Cup, Foxboro Stadium hosted a number of memorable matches as well. There were two games in which the champion Italy faced off against Nigeria and Spain. It was also the site of a couple of Argentina wins including legend Diego Maradona’s final game.

Robert Kraft is the owner and chairman of the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He bought the team in 1994 and quickly turned it into a championship contender. During his reign as team owner, the Patriots have won many Super Bowls and are among the most successful franchises in the NFL. Before purchasing the New England Patriots, Robert Kraft built a successful business known as the Kraft Group which is a leading real estate development firm based in Massachusetts.
