Eric Lefkofsky’s Tempus Raises More Funding to expand its Research Operations

Tempus is a Chicago-based cancer research company co-founded by Eric Lefkofsky in 2015. Its main area of focus is genomic-testing and cancer-fighting data analytics. Since its founding, Tempus has been at the forefront of finding solutions in the field of cancer treatment and management. Recently Tempus raised $110 million in funding.

This funding has increased its value to $2 billion. The contributions were raised from both existing and new investors. Some of the major contributions were from investor Baillie Gifford, T. Rowe Price, Revolution Growth and New Enterprise Associates.

Through Tempus, Eric Lefkofsky has created a platform which focuses in the collection, structuring and the analysis of molecular and clinical data. The data collected is stored at its Next Generation sequencing lab. The lab offers assays such as Tempus XT, Tempus XO, targeted 595 gene panel, Tempus XF, Tempus XT and among others. These data is easily available to physicians who want to collaborate with Tempus and use the data to make informed cancer treatment decisions.

The contributions have helped Tempus expand its operations by employing more researchers. These contributions come after a few months after the March round of funding which raised $80 million.

Currently, Tempus works in conjunction with over 69 National Cancer Institute-associated cancer centers. It is currently one of the major gene-sequencing providers in the entire country. Due to its tremendous growth, Tempus has moved to 600 w. Chicago Avenue which provides a bigger space for its operations.
